MCA of Omaha is a professional association representing contractors in the mechanical construction industry. MCAO has a membership of over 30 mechanical contractors of all sizes engaged in such disciplines as plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, control systems, medical gases and welding, primarily within the industrial, commercial and institutional sectors. Some members also perform service and maintenance work for their customers.

MCA of Omaha provides its members with these services:

  • Represents members in all labor relations maters including negotiation, grievances, apprenticeship training and benefit plans; 
  • Legislative and governmental affairs representation before local bodies; 
  • Represents member interest to owners, general contractors, subcontractors and others involved in construction;
  • Direct membership services such as inquiry responses, insurance and other programs;
  • Publication of E-Update and field safety booklets
  • Library of technical publications, manuals and DVD’s

Labor Relations:
MCAO of Omaha contractors work with the highly qualified pipe fitters and service technicians of Steamfitter and Plumbers Local Union #464 and Plumbers Local Union #16.

Student Chapter:
MCAO is part of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America’s student chapter programs. MCAO supports chapters at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

National Affiliation:
Members of MCA of Omaha are local affiliates of the national organization MCAA (Mechanical Contractors Association of America). MCAA serve as a conduit to the national association activities and are the foundation for their respective state and local programs. MCA of Omaha benefits from the national association through outstanding educational programs, resource catalogs, and business seminars. The role of the National Association is to encourage, support and promote the advancement of the mechanical contracting industry.

 

Statement of Purpose

The purpose of the Mechanical Contractors Association of Omaha is:

To represent they mechanical contracting industry and to act as its spokesperson in dealing with the public, government, other associations in the construction industry, manufacturers, and labor.

To provide for is members all the advantages of large representation and to furnish educational facilities for improving their contracting knowledge and technical capabilities.

To offer to the public a membership dedicated to the task of furnishing efficient and economical installations in a fair and harmonious manner.

To accomplish this, the Association engages in the following activities:

Develops educational seminars for its members to improve their capabilities in all phases of their Mechanical Contracting business and holds these seminars at various parts of the country. 
 
Meets with the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting industry to discuss and seek solutions to many of the mutual problems existing between management and labor.

Provides representation on national bodies, such as the Construction Industry Stabilization Committee, Industrial Stabilization Council and National Board for Settlement of Jurisdictional Disputes.

Meets with other national association in the construction industry to attempt to resolve mutual industry problems which beset all of our members, owners, architects and engineers, and, in general, the entire construction industry.

Assist in the development of materials and operation of programs to develop the skills of apprentices and journeymen.

Engages in legislative activities in an effort to improve the role of the Mechanical Contractor in the areas of laws and regulations.

Meets with engineering societies, government agencies, other construction contractors associations and manufacturers association to develop standards and practices leading to efficient, safe and economical installation.

Develops manuals, such as Labor Estimating and Accounting and distributes to its members technical information, safety bulletins, news memos, and statistical information

Sponsor the National Certified Pipe Welding Bureau and jointly with SMACNA the National Bureau.
